Katz blasts Queens Dems “old boys club”

City Councilwoman Melinda Katz (D-Forest Hills) took aim at the Queens Democratic organization Tuesday, after she finished last among the three borough candidates vying for Bill Thompson’s comptroller seat in voting for the party’s endorsement.
Katz finished with just three votes with City Councilman John Liu (D-Flushing) picking up an overwhelming with 49 and fellow Queens Councilman David Weprin (D-Hollis) getting 6. This led Katz to almost immediately issue a terse statement:
“I am in this race to build on my career of fighting for middle-class families and improving the lives of working New Yorkers. That’s why I am running for Comptroller. The interests of the working men and women I fight for each day are not well-served by machine politics. My only hope this morning was that the Queens Party would support a candidate who was committed to one office and to the Democratic values that matter to the residents of this great county — not simply perpetuate the old boys club that I will continue to challenge.
Somewhat predictably Councilman David Yassky (D-Brooklyn), also running for the seat, did not take home any votes facing off against the three candidates from Queens.

She’s disgusting. She just sold the soul she never possessed like a ponzi scheme, to build a damned ugly building right next to our beautiful Brooklyn Bridge.
She should talk about old BOYS. How old are Hevesi and Chartier anyway?
And How old is Stanley Schein, the Real Estate Lobbyist, back room deal maker who got her the BRONX endorsement. look at the people he represents and the people she takes cash from.
When the Old boys benefit her, she’s just fine with old boys.
Queens knows better. And that poor kid she drags around like a Charlie McCarthy prop ain’t fooling anybody. Weprin’s got 5 kids. I don’t see him out there parading them around.
She’s disgusting.
