…But former Katz backer, Bronx Dems, endorse Liu

Mere minutes on the heels of City Councilwoman Melinda Katz (D-Forest Hills) endorsing Councilman David Yassky (D-Brooklyn) for comptroller, the Bronx Democratic Organization backed Councilman John Liu (D-Flushing) for the post.
This is particularly notable since the Bronx was a stronghold of Katz in the leadup to Tuesday’s primary, with the balance of the borough’s elected officials (including the Bronx Democratic Organization) throwing their weight behind the Forest Hills councilwoman.
Here’s what Bronx Dems Chairman Carl Heastie had to say in a statement:
John Liu has been a consistent voice for communities across the city, especially underrepresented communities like ours in the Bronx. His vision for the office of comptroller is right for the Bronx and every borough. On top of his advocacy on the issues that matter most to middle-class families, John’s fiscal expertise is the kind of leadership we need for the 21st century global economy.
