State Sen. Frank Padavan (R-Bellerose) has thrown his support behind Peter Koo in the race for City Councilman John Liu’s (D-Flushing) seat.
Koo will face Democrat Yen Chou, Green Party candidate Evergreen Chou and possibly her primary rival S.J. Jung, who is considering running on the Working Families Party ticket.
“Peter Koo has proven he has the leadership experience, business knowledge and experience in community activism required to be an effective representative in the New York City Council,” Padavan said at a ceremony held at Flushing Town Hall Sunday. “I have known Peter for many years and he is a devoted family man, generous businessman and committed community leader. Peter will utilize his skills to promote fiscal responsibility, integrity and transparency in the City Council.”
In the release, Koo said:
I am honored to have the endorsement of Sen. Frank Padavan. Sen. Padavan is a committed and dedicated representative for the people of New York. Sen. Frank Padavan is an advocate for tough laws to fight crime; a pioneer in welfare and Medicaid system cost containment and a principal architect of New York City legislation. Sen. Frank Padavan provides the leadership, expertise and professionalism desperately needed in Albany. I want to thank him for his endorsement but more importantly for his hard work, his advice and his friendship. When elected, I look forward to working with him for the betterment of the community and fighting for the people of this great city.

Yen Chou is terrible. I still can’t believe she won. I’m a Democrat, but if it’s between just her and Koo, I’m gonna sit this one out or vote for Koo. A lot of my Bland House neighbors feel the same.
